Moussem Nomadic Arts Centre and BOZAR are once again inviting music groups from the Muslim world so we can hear their hypnotising music resonating throughout the Brussels venue. The focus this year is on Syria. The afternoon will feature a lecture and a poetry project with singing and a documentary.

At the invitation of Moussem nomadic arts centre and Toneelhuis, several theatre-makers/directors turn their attention to the oeuvre of Sadaallah Wannous (1941-1997). Though his stage plays are almost unknown in Flanders, this Syrian is an icon in the Arab world and far beyond.

The Lebanese oud player Rabih-Abou Khalil worked with three prominent internationa musicians for his most recent CD, Hungry People. He performs on stages all over the world, treating his audience to lively humour-filled concerts.

Zawaya: Testimonies from the Revolution – A documentary theatre piece, ‘Zawaya’ presents the testimonies and perspectives of five different Egyptian characters: the mother of a martyr, a member of Ultras Ahlawi, a human rights activist, an army officer, and a paid thug.

High Heels and stuffed Zucchini’ is a play about an absurd world where a child cannot break free from her parents and from the emotional past. It is a story that tries to unravel what is 'good' and 'bad'. Is there such a thing as a destin or can we create our own destination?

FUJAIRAH ARABIC MUSIC BAND

Fujairah Arabic Music Band was founded in 2009 in Fujairah, one of the seven emirates of the United Arab Emirates. The eight-piece ensemble consists of musicians from various Arab countries.
