Despite all the hope it gave, to date the Arab Spring hasn’t produced very encouraging results. With the exception of Tunisia, that is, where the “Jasmine Revolution” is flourishing, even if the democratic process remains somewhat fragile.

Moussem Nomadic Arts Centre and BOZAR are once again inviting music groups from the Muslim world so we can hear their hypnotising music resonating throughout the Brussels venue. The focus this year is on Syria. The afternoon will feature a lecture and a poetry project with singing and a documentary.

Thanks to his magically skilful playing on the qanun (lap harp), Osama Abdulrasol has succeeded in making a valuable contribution to the Belgian and international world music scene for many years now.
