Nuff Said (juni 2009)
- c o r s o
What makes this concept unique is that it doesn’t place any particular emphasis on any of the four disciplines. ‘Nuff Said offers a place on its stage to both serious authors reading from their own work—which can be poetry or prose—from the Netherlands and abroad. But it also features up-and-coming stand-up comedians, experienced comedians, and shy young poets, whether or not they write comedy. The music is provided by a real band—not just any band, but a fantastic group called Brazzaville. Brazzaville is heavily influenced by ’70s funk and soul, but also draws inspiration from jazz. Yet it’s not a retro band, as they blend all their influences into a funky yet contemporary genre that’s entirely their own. Often, a musical guest is invited to join them on stage.
A final aspect of “Nuff Said” is video. Every month, Moussem’s video workshop, which consists entirely of volunteers, produces a short film. These videos may address everyday problems, prejudices—big or small—or annoyances—big or small—but always with a healthy dose of humor.
Today, ‘nuff said is an independent project supported under the Flemish Arts Decree.
