Moussem Stages
2023–2024
Moussem Stages is a project that marked the start of a new phase for Moussem’s organisation, coinciding with its move to its own premises in Anderlecht. To open itself up to the neighbourhood, Moussem Stages served as a meeting platform where the processes emerging from Moussem’s residency programmes were shared with the public. Over two weeks, in 2023 and 2024, various aspects of artistic work were discussed and showcased at different stages: from an invisible idea to an exhibition, and from process to representation. In collaboration with partner organisations, exhibition events, discursive gatherings, performances and lectures were organised.
How can artistic autonomy be protected? In what ways do multi-layered embodied identities influence the visibility and recognition of artists? And how do artists navigate freely within a space where different disciplines meet or overlap?
