Moussem Open Studio - "Do you have a copy?" by Bochra Triki

December 18th, 19h in Espace Chimiste

"DO YOU HAVE A COPY?”

For one of her many unfinished projects, Bochra Triki spent 2020 collecting testimonies from Tunisian feminist activists, active from the late 1970s on. These testimonies evoke the informal beginnings of a movement in opposition to the state feminism that prevailed at the time — a movement that was deeply rooted and active within the context of dictatorship. What remains of this era? Fragments of memories, an eight-issue magazine, a few scattered writings, and an absence from official narratives and contemporary feminist memory.

In the work-in-progress “Do you have a copy?'' we will hear fragments of these powerful and necessary experiences, look at excerpts from archives, and discuss their multiple resonances.

Note: This project was initially started by Bochra Triki and Monia Ben Hamadi as part of their work to preserve collective memory within the Inkyfada podcast.

Bochra has been invited by Moussem for this residency as part of a new collaboration between Nessij Collective (Tunis) and Moussem Nomadic Arts Centre (Belgium). This partnership aims to strengthen links between artistic scenes and support the development of shared practices.
