Nancy Naous graduated in theatre and performing arts from the Institute of Fine Arts in Beirut. Nancy took classical dance classes with Georgette Jbara at an early age and began to take an interest in modern dance, taking classes with Leila Elkhatib and the Gharzouzi Academy. She discovers contemporary dance with Roueida El Ghali Hornig and by participating in a dance workshop led by Jan Push. She performed as an actress and dancer in several plays in Lebanon (with Roger Assaf Siham Nasser and Jana EL Hassan), and she also acts and dances in short films, television series and video clips. Parallel to her professional experiences on stage and on screen, she starts teaching theatre and contemporary dance and continues to nourish her work through various courses and workshops in Lebanon and abroad. In 2001, together with other Lebanese artists and under the direction of Roueida el Ghali Hornig, she founded one of the first Lebanese movement theatre collectives Studio 11, whose creations are based on the personal research of each of its members, to promote the identity of young Lebanese post-war artists. Nancy then bridges the 4120 kilometres that separate Beirut from Paris to continue studying and taking dance classes. She obtains a DEA in Performing Arts and a diploma in Etudes Corporelles from the Sorbonne Nouvelle - Paris III. She also regularly takes courses and master classes at Micadanses, CND Pantin and La Ménagerie de Verre. In 2005, she returned to Lebanon, resumed teaching and started working with the Shams Collective in Lebanon to bring choreographers and dancers she met during her stay in Paris to give contemporary dance workshops at the Tournesol Theatre in Beirut. She then collaborated with ECM/ZINC (la Friche la Belle de Mai/Marseille) to lead the movement and multimedia workshops with Anne Le Batard of the Ex-Nihilo company as part of the Rami project, an experimental platform dedicated to the relationship between artistic approaches and new technologies in Mediterranean countries.
