Dabateatr: LKHBAR F'LMASRAH
For Driss Ksikes, theatre is not something that simply passes by unnoticed: it is a place of public controversy and freedom of speech.
Together, they devised the concept for Dabateatr Citoyen. The company spends a week at the venue where they create and perform their show. They are joined by an artistic team from the place where they are in residence. Together, they think and create, taking current affairs as their starting point. You’ll get to see the result at the end of that week. A refreshing and surprising form of theatre. Now they’re bringing their innovative way of working to Belgium for the first time:
A theatre production inspired by current affairs, in particular the media debate surrounding the term ‘allochtoon’ and the impact of the YouTube film ‘Innocence of Muslims’.
In Mechelen, the actors, musicians and director of Dabateatr will be joined by a unique artistic team: Abbie Boutkabout (GEN2020), Charlotte Caeckaert, Hilde Van Haesendonck (‘t ARSENAAL), Julie Van den Berghe (NTGent), Kristin Rogghe and Mostafa Benkerroum (GEN2020).
